Explore The Benefits Of Music For Children

Musical Learning Supports Child Development
. All over the world, parents bond with their babies through musical sounds and rhythmic movement. They rock and swing their children, put them to sleep with lullabies, make them laugh with nursery rhymes. Parents know instinctively what scientists have now proven: young children thrive on music. It’s one of the best vehicles for learning in early childhood development. Kindermusik takes musical learning to the next level; our curriculum is proven to improve child brain development. And, did we mention it’s fun for kids and parents alike?!

Music Circle Studios extends the learning from our fun Kindermusik classes through to singing and literacy based Musicianship classes. Small groups where children aurally identify and write the music. Using Kodály approach with sound to symbol explore small ensemble work. Individual tuition on Piano and technical elements influenced by the Taubman Approach allows each student to hone their skills creating foundations in healthy technique artistic expression and self-awareness at the instrument.

Early Music Matters

Psychologists, neuroscientists, and experts in early childhood development have demonstrated that music does more for children than bring them joy; it helps their brain cells make the connections needed for virtually every kind of intelligence. Kindermusik’s curriculum is built on this research.

When young children are consistently engaged by music in an age-appropriate, socially accepting environment, they benefit at many levels:
EARLY LITERACY

They gain the phonological processing, spoken language, and comprehension skills that are the foundation of reading.

QUANTITATIVE

They build the spatial-temporal and reasoning skills required for math, science, and engineering.

SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL

They develop social and emotional skills that are essential for school readiness—like the ability to regulate their responses and relate to others in complex ways.

PHYSICAL

By moving and dancing to music and playing simple instruments, children improve their gross and fine motor skills.

CREATIVE

Activities that encourage freedom within a fun and friendly structure spark children’s creativity and provide inspiration.

Kindermusik programming with our Kodály trained teachers offers excellence in music and movement classes for babies, toddlers, big kids, and families.

Our classes nurture young children’s development – and not just their musical development. As every parent knows, children grow at an amazingly fast pace, and in many ways at once. They’re busy developing their language (and literacy) skills every minute of every day—at the same time as they’re figuring out how to skip, hop, and jump; control their emotions; count to twenty; and get along with their friends. Music Circle Studios understands this. So while our classes certainly help your child develop a lifelong love for music, they also do more than that: they help children develop language, social, emotional, and physical skills as well—all in the context of joyful, musically rich play!

And…it’s research-proven! A third party research study shows the positive effects of Kindermusik’s curriculum. Children using the program showed 32% more literacy gain. Surveys say both teachers and parents would strongly recommend the program to others.

Music Circle Studios Mission And Values

Our mission? To instil a lifelong love of music and a foundation for learning in children.

Parents know instinctively what scientists have proven: young children thrive on music. All over the world, parents bond with their babies through musical sounds and rhythmic movement. They rock and swing their children, put them to sleep with lullabies, make them laugh with nursery rhymes. Kindermusik is the world’s most trusted music movement program for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and young children.

Our program is based on research demonstrating the benefits of musicat each stage of a child’s development. We start from where your child is, regardless of his age, and provide activities that stimulate his mind, body, and sense of play.

What The Experts Say

Endorsements from experts…

“Kindermusik provides the sound nutrition to improve movement, listening, and expression in young children. Through activities and music making, skills for parents and children alike create inroads for the great orchestration of a family’s hearts, minds, and bodies.”

Don Campbell
Author of The Mozart Effect for Children

“A major task for toddlers, that can confuse parents at first, is resolving the conflict between their passionate desire for closeness to their parents—after all, they are still barely out of babyhood—and their equally fierce drive for independence. Activities such as those in the Kindermusik Our Time curriculum provide toddlers this opportunity. A child can move into the circle during story time and actively participate if he wishes, or he can stay close to Mum or Dad and listen to the story being read. Given this security, most toddlers will naturally move to greater, and more appropriate, independence as they approach preschool age.”

Melissa R. Johnson, Ph.D.
Paediatric Psychologist, Cary, NC

“One of my strongest impressions of Kindermusik’s work is the variety of musical selections that are there for children. The selections are of high quality and of considerable diversity, such that children can listen and respond to the music of Bach, Mozart, contemporary composers and cultural traditions around the globe. Kindermusik understands that children deserve opportunities to know a palette of musical colours, and thus through the program provide windows to the world of people and their artistic expressions. This rainbow of musical colours is the stuff that surrounds children through their Kindermusik training, so that their listening, movement, singing and playing possibilities are grounded in history and across cultures. These musical beginnings set children straight for a lifetime of well-considered choices in their musical and cultural valuing.”

Patricia Campbell, Ph.D.
Professor of music at University of Washington and author of Songs in Their Heads

“As an early childhood advocate, I have found good music invaluable as a teaching tool. Kindermusik has taken the art of combining music with learning to a new and higher educational level. When children experience music in their early years, it lasts throughout their lifetime. Recent literature may attempt to refute the value of music as it relates to IQ, but experts cannot deny the effect music has on the development of a child’s complete well-being. Kindermusik is pioneering a movement that will prove valuable to children for many years into the future. As a trainer, with more than 20 years’ tenure, I thank Kindermusik for its contribution to holistic learning.”

Jim Powell, Ed.D.
National director of assessment and evaluation, Kaplan Companies.

“When introduced appropriately, music and literature play an amazing role in the development of infants and toddlers. I’m happy that Kindermusik has extended their programs to include this time of life when brain development is most vulnerable and parents are most in need of support and direction.”

Claudia Quigg, M.Ed.
Founder and executive director of BabyTALK, a program dedicated to helping parents become better parents to their children.
